This was my first attempt at my own magazine advert
poster for my A2 music video project. I tried to influence some conventions I
had seen in previous EDM genre music advert's. Conclusively I recognised
through my research that most EDM advertisements had a vintage appearance and
included a colour palette of bright vibrant colours to catch the audiences eye.
I included a lot of contrast between light and dark colours as well as a
combination of bright colours including yellow, blue and orange. As well I used
a bright pink background in order for the magazine advert to correspond with
the Digipak cover. I chose to use a combination of darker toned and lighter
toned filters in order to highlight that happiness exists both night and day,
AKA as both bad days and good days. I featured images from my music video in
order to represent continuity between the footage used and the images on the poster
in order for audiences to easily recognise the band. At the top of the poster I
included our band name 'KP&IZ' in bold and coloured in bright red to
capture the audience’s attention as well appear clearly and concisely to who
the duo is. I also announced the album's name and used bold text to announce
the album was 'brand new'. By referring to the new track as the first edition
to the new album, implies to the audiences that they will join an exclusive
minority by purchasing/ downloading the album before anyone else first. As
well, by referring to the album as an 'studio album' effectively adds on
professionalism and represents the song as being performed by experienced/
well-liked artists. In the centre of the page, as well on top of the images I
wrote the album tracks name "make me feel" to signify the title and
forward audiences to recognise likewise remember the title. and at the bottom
of the advert I included all the apps audiences could stream/ purchase the song
from (Spotify, iTunes etc.) as well as where they can purchase a digital copy
(HMV) to get access the new track. As well, I mentioned the artist’s website,
in order for audiences to gain further information regarding the duo's new
album. I also featured the release date, and included a quote from the song
"there's nothing else this real" I done this in order to link
continuity between the video lyrics to the poster's print and therefore test if
audience members will recognise this feature. As well, I featured the
'universal' logo at the bottom of the poster to dedicate sponsorship and
attention to the producers of the album/ music video. In conclusion I was
overall very happy and pleased with the outcome of my poster, I successfully
incorporated a vintage style and a brightly coloured palette outcome with
clearly stated titles and relevant information required for the audiences to
gain knowledge about the album.
